Sound proof walls are made out of sponge and sorta look like egg cartons. The reason they are made out of sponge is because sponge absorbs all of the sound waves that hit into it.

Soundproof walls
In todays lesson we reverberated the sound of 3 different places. The first place was our class room where we filmed a speach on the camera, the second place was the lift were we filmed another speech in a much small place. The last place was the stairwell which was a very big area.

Microphones
Shotgun mic - Shotgun
The shotgun mic is used for meeting and interviews this microphone picks up sound from the front of the mic but it also can pick up small sounds for the left, right and back of the microphone. This advantages when the person is speaking from a distance away. This is Directional so it can focus on one person who is talking and not others.
Radio Mic
Is used for when you want to be filming something far away but you still want to catch the actors noises and words. Prank shows usually use this so the camera man can film and get audio without getting caught. This needs to be done with an omnidirection so it doesn't matter where you put and you can still get a clear sound.
Pod casting mic These mics are useful in doors as they pick up wind movement really easily. People can use these for radio, live streaming of films and games. This is an omnidirectional microphone.

Decibel lesson
Today we learned about decibels. The class got decibel measures up on our phones and we recorded the decibel of how much sound the room tone made. The stats or listed above in the graph. We then recorded sound from 6 different positions. The first position turned out to be the loudest because it was the closest to the sound source. The other five dropped in decibels as the sound dropped in energy until the decibel reader reached the room tone.
This is what happens when you spray a bottle of liquid on something from a short distance away, it focuses on one point of the piece of paper. This works the same for sound waves, the closer it is the better quality.
Spraying a bottle of liquid from a further distance away causes the spray to come out in splatters. Sound waves do the same the further away the sound source is the less clear the audio will be.
Inverse square low of sound means that the decidables drop by 6 every time the distance has decreased by itself.. example.
